EXS-5

This is the EXS-5 model, it’s built for players used to standard acoustic drum kitsthanks to the sizes of the playing surfaces. It features a 13″ kick drum, a 13″ snare drum, two 10″ toms, a 13″ floor tom, a 14″ hi-hat, two 14″ crash cymbals and a 16″ ride cymbal.

Natural Playing Experience

A natural playing experience is vital for an electronic drum kit, you don’t want to have make major adjustments to your playing when switching from an acoustic kit. ATV have worked to make a kit that’s responsive, with a natural feel so you can feel right at home on this kit.

The cymbals can be played or choked anywhere on the circumference, with a natural swing when played. ATV have even recreated the natural flex that occurs when a cymbal is hit on the thin tapered edge. The hi-hat pedal features an optical sensor for precision and low latency.

The drum heads are a two-layer mesh design that are sensitive yet durable. Whether you’re bashing them hard or playing them softly the heads will respond to your playing thanks to their wide dynamic range that even captures ghost notes. The kick drum is similarly fast and responsive, capable of handling a double pedal.

xD3 Sound Module

At the heart of the EXS range is the xD3 sound module. The result of detailed studio work, the xD3 features excellent drum samples for impressive drum sounds. ATV have aimed to capture the natural resonance and dynamic range of acoustic drums, even taking into account drum position and ambient sound. There’s no fear of sterile sounding drums with the xD3.

With electronic drums, it’s important to have a responsive playing experience. The xD3 is highly responsive with low-latency so you won’t have to worry about lag messing up your rhythm. You can also store and recall parameters for drum and cymbal sensitivity allowing you to set your ideal responsiveness.

The xD3 is full of features to help make your playing better and more enjoyable. The actual sounds contained in the module are, of course, the most important feature. The xD3 comes with five distinct drum models covering genres as wide as rock, pop, metal, and swing. All these models are recorded to capture a real sense of space so there are no flat sounds here.

The onboard metronome function allows for visual monitoring of your timing and strike strength allowing you to analyse your performance and help you play more efficiently. The xD3 comes with backing tracks recorded by professional musicians and also features record and playback functionality for listening back to your performances.
