Description
Dingwall are on the cutting edge of modern bass performance. Their flagship Combustion model delivers unrivalled playability and stellar sonics all at a great price, thanks to Dingwall’s unique hybrid Chinese/Canadian manufacturing process. Every bass receives a final fret level and is set up by the brand’s skilled team of artisans in North America.
Ergonomic Construction
The Dingwall Combustion bass boasts an elegant and compact body design, especially with its smooth contours that offer maximum playing comfort. The instrument’s materials are key to its detailed sound and exceptional balance, with the body crafted from lightweight Swamp Ash and the bolt-on neck made from Maple featuring a layered, 5-piece construction that provides incredible strength and stability for rock-solid tuning.
Multi-Scale Design
The most noteworthy feature of the Combustion, and all Dingwall basses in fact, is its multi-scale design. With a 36.25″ scale on the low E string and a 34″ scale on the G, the higher tension on the thicker strings gives the bass more punch and clarity where it matters most! Utilising Ralph Novaks fanned-fret system, this allows for super-accurate intonation across the entire fingerboard, with their slanted placement suiting the natural position of your hand. It may look odd at first, but you’d be surprised at how easy it is to adapt to this type of neck!
Flexible Electronics
The Combustion comes equipped with a pair of punchy Dingwall-designed FD-3N pickups. These deliver thunderous and aggressive sounds suitable for modern styles, featuring Neodymium magnets for improved definition.
Featuring a master volume control, the Combustion also boasts a 4-position ‘Quad-Tone’ pickup selector switch that lets you use each pickup alone, or in conjunction with one another in series or parallel modes. With an active/passive switch that can let you choose vintage and modern voicings, it is the EMG 3-band preamp that really sets this bass apart giving you control over the three main areas of the Combustion’s EQ.
Modern Hardware
Dingwall’s Combustion bass comes kitted out with tour-grade hardware appointments, including lightweight licensed Hipshot Ultralite tuners, and individual Hipshot/Dingwall bridges which are highly-adjustable so that you can achieve the perfect setup.
