Universal Audio, manufacturer of coveted vintage audio reproductions and DSP powered plug-ins, is now shipping their new 6176 channel strip. The 6176 combines Universal Audio’s two most successful products-the 2-610 microphone/instrument preamplifier and the 1176LN compressor-into a single “channel strip” product.

The response has been overwhelming. “Our new product ramp up is typically gradual.” explained Tim Prince, Universal Audio’s Vice President of Hardware Design and Manufacturing. “We release a product and people wait to read reviews or hear it in their studios before ordering, but with the 6176 it’s the opposite. We’ve already sold everything we planned to build in the first four months and now we’re scrambling to expand production.

“The 6176 features several improvements over the standalone 2-610 mic preamp and 1176LN compressor, including a 15db pad for the mic pre and “split and join” modes, which allows the preamp and compressor sections to be used in series like a typical channel strip product, or separately via separate inputs and outputs on the back panel.”
